Activities

The time a student spends in the school should enable him/her to acquire sound principles of conduct and action and lay a solid foundation of true and purposeful living when he/she attains adulthood. Principals of honesty, trust, cooperation, self reliance and hard work are inculcated through various shcool activies. In these activies the student learns to do things himself/herself under the guidance of co-ordinators. They are given the opportunity to see the pratical application of the abstract ideas.

CALENDAR

Provides an insight in to the melange inter school, intra school, zonal and state level competition to be hosted and taken care throughout the academic session. Put forth the gazetted and National holidays and gives an update of all co-curricular activities.

NEWS LETTER

Puts forward the vision and envisages the future targets as well as the achievements of the schoo. It is a brief summery of all significant happenings and keep the parents memory bank fresh.

THE HOUSE SYSTEM

A Number of activities are conducted under the guidance of the house coordinators/house mistresses, (Nalanda, Sanchi, Takshshila, Ujjain Houses) assisted by captains and vice captains appointed for various activities (dramatics, asembly, music and sports etc.)

STUDENT'S COUNCIL

A nominated body of students is appointed by the Principal in consultation with the coordinators and teachers. It functions under the Headmistresses and Physical Education Department looking after the discipline and co-curricular activies in the school.

CLUB SYSTEM

School also has club system with experienced teachers as heads of respective clubs. Students are given an opportunity to choose a club of their choice based on their ability and interest. Some of the clubs are Environment club, Dramatics Club, Maths Clib, Science Club, Debating Club, Social Awareness club, Sports club, Quiz club, Music club, Dance club, Computer club, Health club, Astronomy club etc.

SPORTS

Facilities are provided for the following : Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Hockey, Foodball, Hand Ball, Volley Ball, Aerobics, Gymnastics, Yoga, Table Tannis, Squash etc. Students are encouraged to take part in supervised games in the morning and evening. The keen competition on the playground tends to develop sportsmanship. Achieving a high level of individual performance in commendable, fostering the spiring of team work is even more strongly insisted upon.

In addition to these clubs, the school has Music (vocal and instrumental), Dancing (classical and folk), Debates & Elocution and other extra-curricular activities. Students are active members of societies like INTACH, SPIC MACAY, PACE, QUEST, NIE etc.  Each student from middle section onwards is required to be a member of the S.U.P.W. club.

Functions and competitions are organised within the school. The performance of each house is assessed on the basis of their work. Trophies/medals/shields /certificates are awarded to the best group.

Environment week

Students of Hillwoods Academy celebrated the environment week form 14th july – 19th july 08
During this week the students planted saplings in the school campus to promote the concept of ‘Go Green’ our honourable guest Dr. Deshbandhu from Indian environment society enlightened and briefed the students about global warming and the steps being taken to curb the Environmental pollution. To increase awareness among students and sensitize them, Eco club members were taken for a visit to the Aravali Biodiversity Park where the children learnt the use of some medicinal plants, butterfly cycle, germination of plants and did many exciting and creative activities.

The week culminated with a talk show and the students were encouraged to work for a pollution free and green environment.

INTER CLASS CALLIGRAPHY COMPETITION ( classes I to V)

This competition was held on 17th April ,2009. Students took active part in calligraphy competition. Class I to V took part in it. The Lord’s Prayer and school pledge were written by students. Teachers encouraged the students to write the above topics in their beautiful hand writing. Such competitions are a successful way to make students realise the importance of good writing.

SQUASH MAKING COMPETITION ( Classes I to V )

Interclass squash making competition was conducted on 24th April, 09. This competition was yet another success in observing the little hands at work. Students brought material from home and prepared many varieties of squash. Delicious flavours quenched the thirst of the students. It was a fun filled learning experience.
