Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar organized ‘Kalakriti’ – a festival showcasing the innate talent and creativity present in the students.

Several schools participated in this Inter School Event. These include – Mother Teresa Public School, Arunodaya Public School, Amity International School (East Delhi), Cosmos Public School, Deep Memorial Public School, New Horizon Public School, DAV (Shreshth Vihar), Greenfields Public School, Jaipuria Public School, Queen’s Mary School, Sneh International Public School, Universal Public School, Vivekanand Public School (B-Block), DAV (Dayanand Vihar), Modern School (Barakhamba) and Hillwoods Academy. The response of the students was both overwhelming and encouraging.

The festival – one of its kinds, saw young artists participating enthusiastically in events like still Life Drawing, Designing the Cover Page of the school magazine, Painting and Embroidering Designs on Cushion Covers, Canvas Painting, making Puppets and Face Masks. Traditional arts like Worli Painting, Rangoli and Mehendi Designing were also a part of the festival.

Eminent personalities, artists themselves, judged the events. Impressed by the ingenuity and creativity of the students, the judges encouraged them to explore newer avenues that will add to their verve and versatility.

Kalakriti has become an integral part of the Hillwoods Calendar. Every year the festival proves that generation Y is indeed multifaceted.

CREATIVE WORKSHOP

Every child possesses immense energy that must be channelized in the right direction. Keeping this in view a creative workshop was organised in the junior building for the students of Class I-V.
The students learnt to improve their handwriting through calligraphy while mental maths enhanced their logical skills. Art and Craft classes developed their creative skills and dance made them learn coordination of body movement and rhythm. ‘Abacus’ classes helped them to sharpen their mathematical skills. Above all, yoga and meditation helped the students to increase their concentration level.
Certificates were given to all the participants.

 


PEACE MARCH & BLOOD DONATION CAMP

 

 

The alumni and students of Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar organised a Peace March on January 29, 2011 to further the cause of world peace and sensitize people to the myriad of challenges that the country faces today. The event followed the Republic Day celebrations and highlighted the multiple problems that confront our nation.The march was flagged off by eminent personalities. Students and alumni, with placards and banners, marched upto the CBSE office at Preet Vihar. A street play (Nukkad Natak), was staged by the students.

The presence of Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) office bearers and youth leaders Ms. Priya Dabas, Ms Neetu Dabas and Mr Deepak provided reinforcement to the cause. The captain and vice captain of the NetBall National Women’s Team, Ms Prachi Tehlan and Ms Manisha Rathore respectively, also boosted the morale of the students.

In tune with this splendid initiative, was a Blood Donation Camp organised by the school in collaboration with the Rotary club. The wonderful response to this humane cause reiterated one’s faith in the innate goodness of human nature.

 


ADVENTURE CAMP - TIKKLING, GURGAON

 

 

Hillwoods Academy organised a trip to camp tickling in Gurgaon on 22nd January 2011 for students of class XI. The students were encouraged to participate in various adventurous and spontaneous activities like wall climbing, valley crossing, commando crawling, zoubing etc.
All the teachers and students enthusiastically participated in all the activities.
The instructors too were very keen in imparting knowledge about various adventure sports. The safety of the students was ensured on the whole, the trip was a good experience.

 


HISTORICAL VISIT

On 22nd January, 2010 VIII graders of Hillwoods Academy visited some of the oldest sites in Delhi, to know more about history.
Our first visit was to the Lotus Temple which is well known for its architectural splendor. The students enjoyed the beautiful walkways around the lotus with beautiful carved bridge and hall. It’s a temple of Bahai Faith community. Children were amazed to see the nine pools representing the floating leaves of the lotus. It was spiritual experience for everyone.
Next the students went to the Qutub Minar which is undoubtedly one of the finest examples of pre Mughal architecture. It is an example of Indo-Islamic architecture adorned by floral motifs that amazed the middle schoolers. Students also took interest in the verses of holy Quran inscribed on the tower. The excursion concluded with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb - the first distinct example of Mughal architecture inspired by Persian architecture. This splendid piece of architecture stands in the centre of a square garden. Students were keen to observe the Mausedeum, as the Kiosks gave it a pyramidal outline from the distance. The dome, the minarets and the chahar bagh gardens inspired awe.
This excursion proved to be quite fruitful for students’ knowledge about their city’s historical sites.

 


SHWETA TIWARI - SPECIAL PRIZE WINNER IN CITY LEVEL SCIENCE FAIR

Shreya Tiwari of X A received a special recommendation and a cash prize in the Individual category (Projects) for her innovative project on BIOPLASTICS.

Shreya had participated on the city level science fair conducted by ‘The National Science Centre’ on 14th and 15th January 2011. She competed with students from several schools of the country.

 


MINI WINTER CARNIVAL 2010

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way …….
The festival of Christmas not only signifies the onset of freezing cold winters but also spreads the message of peace and brotherhood. A winter carnival was organized on 24th December, 2010. Respected Principal Madam inaugurated the carnival by cutting the ribbon.

The atmosphere was filled with colours and happiness when the little ones of the junior wing presented a spectacular fancy dress parade of Santas, X’mas trees etc. Parents and children participated whole heartedly and played the games like hungry joker, car race, hit the target, sticky nose and the list was endless.

The students also enjoyed at wide variety of food stalls like mouth watering dimsums, gol-gappas, delicious chole-bhature. Children were thrilled to jump and play on the huge bouncee. Everybody had a wonderful experience and participated with great enthusiasm that made the winter carnival, a huge success.

 


TECHNOFEST 2010

Hillwoods Academy, Delhi organized Technofest on Saturday, 18th December, 2010 in the school premises. The fest was graced by eminent personality Dr. J. K. Das, Director, Fore Institute of Management and Dr. B.C. Sabata, Sr. Scientific Officer, Dept. of Environment, Delhi Govt. A number of Inter-school competitions were organized to test the technological and scientific acumen of young learners such as Digiweb, Coder, Photoshop Express, Scientoon, Mathabola, Technoquest, Model making etc., in which students of Mother Teresa Public School, New Horizon Public School, DAV, Mausam Vihar, Deep Memorial Public School, Seth Anandram Jaipuria School, Mayo International School, ASN Public School, Modern School and Ahlcon Public School actively participated.
The highlight of the fest was the science and maths exhibition which showcased experimental and reasoning aptitude of students. Concepts of science and maths were explained through the various models made by students.

An additional attraction was the display of comics with meaningful message on Road Safety made by budding artists of Hillwoods Academy and DAV Mausam Vihar, in collaboration with Safe Kids Foundation, who had been trained by an International organization, World Comics India.
Dr. Das encouraged students to develop scientific temper and gain technological knowledge and skills to enhance objectivity and universality of facts.

Technofest was a grand success, highly appreciated by judges, parents, teachers as well as students.

 


ROAD SAFETY

The School organised a workshop on “Comics Making” in association with Safe Kids Foundation. Several students from our school as well as D.A.V., Mausam Vihar participated in the workshop. It was a 4 – day workshop organised from 4th December’10 to 7th December’ 10.
During the 4- day workshop, the students were taught to draw comic patterns and cartoons using simple drawing and sketching techniques. The students were also shown Animation Movies so as to attract the attention of the students towards Road Safety.

Resource People from “World Comics” taught simple drawing techniques and patterns to the students during 4- day workshop. Students were made to apply their skill in developing their own comics and cartoons. At the end of the session, students made their own comic stories and presented it in the form of attractive pictures.
It was a wonderful and enjoyable learning experience for the students. They enjoyed it thoroughly and learnt a new skill too.

 


SPELL-VOCAB CHALLENGER

Spell-Vocab challenger is a unique contest for school students. It checks the participants’ vocabulary and challenges their spelling proficiency. Initiated in 2003 with 50 leading schools of Delhi and NCR, the contest has grown in stature and reach. In 2009, it ran in over 500 schools in 10 cities across the country.
Stage I of the contest screens participants with a written test. The top scorers from each participating school are selected on the basis of their performance in this round and are declared the school champions. They then take on the winners from other schools within their zone in the zonal round.
This year the Spell-Vocab 2010 zonal round was conducted in Hillwoods Academy. Our promising student Srishti Jain of X D excelled in the zonal round bagging the 1st position and making it to the final round. She will be competing with the winners of other zones on 14th December 2010 at Cambridge School, srinivaspuri.

 


ONE NATION READING TOGETHER

Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar students enjoyed the Book Reading Hour organized by Scholastic India under their project titled ‘One Nation Reading Together 2010’. Students assembled in the Amphitheatre armed with their favourite story books. For an hour they were lost in an enchanted world of their own.

At the end of the hour students were given tips on how to handle their books with care. Students also took The Reading Pledge – promising to read everyday as it will help lead a more fulfilling life.

 


AWARENESS FOR HAND WASH

A workshop was conducted by Ms.Vasundhara in Amphi-theatre on 03 December, 2010, Friday, to create awareness among the students for washing hands and its significance.

A film (on the projector) was shown in three parts. The first part depicted how unhygienic habits affected the health of a child.

The second part demonstrated the causes of her ill-health while the third one laid emphasis on the six important steps for washing the hands properly.

All the students not only enjoyed the film (they were glued to the screen) but also participated in learning the steps. They also answered the questions asked, e.g., Why is it necessary to wash hands? What do you use to wash your hands? etc.

Everybody pledged to be more cautious and agreed that ‘Good Health starts with Good Hygiene!’

 


XVII ANNUAL FUNCTION 2010

Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar celebrated its XVII Annual Function. The celebrations were spread over two days.

 

On Saturday, 27 November 2010 the junior school students showcased their talent Padmashree Smt Ranjana Gauhar was the Chief Guest and Mr. J.A.Choudhary, former Health Secretary, Government of India graced the occasion.
The Annual School Report was presented by the Education Incharge, Ms. Naina Ved. The evening began with an invocation to seek blessings of Ganapati and Saraswati. The Primary and Pre-Primary students displayed their verve and versatility. The audience grooved to a Tequila number, enjoyed a musical play ‘The Volcano’ and loved the dance drama ‘Prakriti ki Pathshala’.

 

Ambassador Sudhir Devare was the chief guest on Sunday, 28 November’10. The function was also graced by Mr. J.A Chaudhary Former Health Secretary Government of India. The school Report was presented by the Principal of the School. Students presented Shakespeare’s ‘Taming of the Shrew’. ‘Ganga‘ – a ballet that traced the river from its source to sea was the highlight of the evening. Tribute was paid to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. Students presented a dance on Rabindra Sangeet.

Meritorious students were honoured by the Chief guest Pooja Makkar of class XII and Dhriti Arora of class V were awarded the Bhagwan Avdhoot Ram Gold medal for Best student.

P.T.A. Awards for Excellence in sports were given to Athletes and sports persons. Ganga was adjudged the best item.

The evening concluded with the Headmistress proposing a Vote of Thanks.

 


CONFLUENCE 2010

HILLWOODS ACADEMY, PREET VIHAR HOSTS CONFLUENCE 2010 Confluence 2010, an Inter-School Event, was hosted by Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar. It was an event with a difference. The focus was on 'Languages, Social Science and Commerce Events.'
Several schools - ASN Senior Secondary School, ASN International, Mother Teresa, Vivekananda Public School D-Block, DPS Vasundhera, Deep Memorial School - participated with zest and enthusiasm in a myriad of activities. The students displayed a keen spirit of competition, team spirit and sheer enjoyment.
Think and Tell, Noun Games, Spell Bee, Radio Show tested skills in English Language.

Doha Recitation, Hasya Kavita, Bhashan Pratiyogita and Extempore proved that the students were just as good with their National Language.
Events like Panchatantra, Recreating History and Mad Ad Enactment revealed that Generation Y possessed theatrical skills as well.
The senior students participated in a Power Point Presentation and Acumen, a Quiz on Business Studies, Accountancy and General Awareness.
The events were judged by eminent personalities and experts drawn from various fields.

An exhibition based on our economy and polity, astronomy and current issues showcased the skills of students, both from the primary and secondary sections.

 


CHILDREN'S DAY CELEBRATIONS

PRIMARY

On the occasion of Children's Day a special assembly was held for the students of the school. The Principal awarded children from every class who displayed good conduct and who were avid readers. The Pre-Primary and Primary section celebrated "Mini Sports Day". Children participated enthusiastically in different races like "Dribbling The Ball, Wearing The Cap, Arranging The Blocks, Bursting The Balloons, Balancing The Book and Kangaroo Jump. Children took part in myriad of activities like spray painting, vegetable painting, block painting and sketching. It was a day of fun and frolic for the children.

SENIORS

The students of Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar celebrated Children's Day in an innovative way.

The students participated in a talk show conducted by Focus T.V. the topic of discussion was 'How relevant is Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru for today's generation.'

The interactive session revealed that generation Y is truly inspired by Nehru's charisma, diplomacy and statesmanship. They feel that our country today needs a leader like him to take us into the 21st century. His vision, his ideologies and ideals are relevant even today as India is at crossroads - transition period and is set to become a super power.

The Talk Show concluded with a quiz on Pandit Nehru's life and contributions. The students showed again that they did know a lot about 'Chacha Nehru' - Our first Prime Minister.

 


Anti Cracker Rally


The students of Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar organized an Anti Cracker Rally on Tuesday, 2 November 2010 in association with Universal Public School. The Rally aimed at sensitizing people about the repercussions of bursting crackers during Diwali.

The Innovative banners and placards made by the students generated awareness about the harm posed by crackers to the environment. The catchy slogans raised by the students suggested several alternative ways of celebration that were high on the fun quotient.

A street play was performed by the students. It highlighted issues like noise pollution, air pollution, child labour being exploited in the cracker factories and wasteful expenditure. The street play urged one and all to celebrate Diwali with lights, mouth watering delicacies, and add to the sparkle with sharing and bonding with our loved ones. It reminded people that in simplicity lies real beauty and happiness.

 


Career Mela 2010-11


A Career Counseling Session and Career Mela was organised in Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar for the parents and students of classes X, XI & XII on 23rd October, 2010. Session was conducted in the theatre by Education Head, Ms Naina Ved and School Counselor Ms Saroj Sharma in which they stressed upon the importance of interests and abilities and aptitudes of students for their career options.

All those Institutes who had put up their stalls in the Career Mela were - IMS, PRATHAM, STEP BY STEP, INSTITUTE OF PUBLIC HEALTH & HYGIENE, FAIR FIELD INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, ARENA ANIMATION, ACTURIAL SCIENCE, IPCC, ICACIA, QUEST, AAG, SBI, ICAI, PEARL ACADEMY, PETROLEUM ENGINEERING INSTITUTE, UILS, AVLON ACADEMY, YWCA and many others.

Faculty members & representatives spoke to parents and students about innumerable number of Career options after class X as well as XII. New avenues, options and streams enlightened the students about different options they can take depending on their aptitude & interest.

It was a great success as parents came in large number with their wards to visit all the stalls put up by educational & vocational institutes.

Parents highly appreciated the efforts made by school to provide all information at one place.

 


Independence Day Celebrations: 15 August 2010


For saluting the nation and nation builders, students, parents and teachers gathered in the school lawns to celebrate India’s free and indelible spirit.
The programme began with hosting of National flag by Principal Madam. Solemnising the occasion was the school band with the tune of National Anthem. A cultural programme was presented by tiny-tots as well as senior choir group of the school. Teachers presented melodious patriotic songs and enthused zeal and zest among all present.
Alumni of the school came in large number to pay tributes to soldiers who keep our freedom alive and real. They urged school students to be conscientious and disciplined to achieve success in life.

CAREER COUNSELLING


A Career counselling Seminar for Classes XI & XII was organized on 26th & 27th July by Career Launcher.

The Seminar focused on “What after XIIth”?

It was highly interactive and informative seminar which highlighted various Career options, Institute information, Cracking of Entrance Examination and Placement opportunities.

The sessions which lasted an hour and half helped students to set forth their goals and targets.



ARE WE REALLY ECO-FRIENDLY??

 

 

Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar hosted an Eco-Seminar on Saturday, 24 July 2010. The seminar, an annual event, aimed at generating awareness and concern for our Mother Earth. ‘For Earth’s Sake’, a thought provoking poem, rendered by the students of the Eco-Club set the ball rolling.
The Seminar was attended by teachers and students of several schools in East Delhi.
Hillwoods Academy has been a lead school and has initiated several eco-friendly measures in the school. Mr. Ashish from the Centre for Science and Environment and Ms. Chaitali Kapoor from the Centre for Environmental Education were the guests of honour. Their interactive sessions guided the students towards an eco friendly approach and inspired the participants to become more proactive. An interesting workshop was conducted by the teachers of the host school showing how we can make the best out of waste. The Eco Club members of the School conducted a Talk Show on ‘Carbon Footprints’. The audience also evaluated itself with the help of a questionnaire aimed at finding out ‘How Eco-Friendly Each One of us really is’. A highlight of the Seminar was an exhibition showcasing the innate talents of students at making the best out of waste. The schools who participated in the eco fest were – Starex International School, Somerville (Vasundhra), D.A.V Public School (Mausin Vihar), RSVB Mandavali, Vivekanand School (Anand Vihar), St. Andrews, Rishabh Public School (Mayur Vihar), Universal Public School.
All the guests visited the Science Park, the Paper Recycling Unit, Herbal Garden, The Vermi Composting Pit and the Roli Poli. They planted saplings in the school premises and pledged to adopt more eco-friendly measures, leave fewer carbon footprints. Thus, the seminar concluded on a very optimistic note.

 


Flower Art by Hillwoods Juniors

 

 

Flowers are beautiful to see and pleasant to feel. When they grow in garden, they make it colourful, when they are placed in living room, they add to the beauty of room. It is a delight to know the flowers better. Keeping this in mind, Hillwoods Academy organized an ‘Inter Class Flower Arrangement Activity’ on July 9, 2010. The students worked with great enthusiasm and displayed their creativity in the form of colourful flower bouquets. Each class was divided in groups and each group came up with a beautiful arrangement of flowers. The students were given freedom to use both fresh as well as artificial flowers. They worked in close co-operation with each other and finished their work within a given period of time. The students had great fun!

 


Investiture Ceremony

Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar held its Investiture Ceremony on Tuesday the 6th of July 2010.

The solemn atmosphere of the serene morning hours proved ideal for the occasion.
The new Prefectorial Board led by the School Captain Srikant Pillai and the School Prefect Divanshi Srivastava took an oath to shoulder all responsibilities sincerely, work with dedication and lead their alma mater to new heights.

The Prefectorial Board included the Sports Captain and Vice Captain, the Activity Coordinators, House Captains, House Prefects and Captains of the several Sports Teams. A separate Discipline committee was sworn in with Baldeep Singh and Ishna Arora as the Discipline Incharges. They pledged to lead by example.

As a symbolic gesture the former School Captain and School Prefect handed over the School Flag to the present School Captain and School Prefect. The former House Mistresses handed over charge in a similar manner to the new House Mistress.

The Principal of the school addressed the Assembly. She congratulated the new Prefectorial Board and her words inspired them. They promised to fulfill their duties with enthusiasm and dedication.

Creaitve Workshop

Creativity and ingenuity of students at its best was witnessed in ‘Creative Workshop’ organized by Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar from 10 May to 14 May 2010.

During the workshop every child got a chance to participate in all the activities – music, dance, art, abacus and drama. The students started their day with the morning prayer followed by meditation. All the sessions were conducted by a team of experts. These were enjoyed by the young Hillwoodians.

To sharpen their concentration and mental aptitude children did Brain Gym Exercise and ‘ABACUS’. These exercises stimulate the brain and make it work faster, retention gets improved and memory is enhanced. Specialists in the field of music and dance tapped the talents of young Hillwoodians and gave them good exposure to classical music and dance. The students realized that music and dance require a lot of practice and concentration. The teachers introduced them to the finer nuances of performing arts.

Theatrical skills allow for good expression, voice modulation and enacting different situations. Students got training for the same as a part of the Workshop Activity.

The Theatre Workshop was thoroughly enjoyed by all the students and active participation by all was seen. A workshop for Global Art was conducted in which students learnt sketching and use of oil pastels for giving shape to their thoughts and imagination. An overwhelming response to this creative workshop is appreciated. The total involvement of teacher with the children encouraged the students to come forth and exhibit their versatility and talent. It was a novel experience for the students. They have benefited and gained immensely. Certificates to all the participants were awarded

 


WORKSHOP ON ANGER MANAGEMENT (by Max Healthcare)

Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar organized a workshop on Anger Management for the students of class X and XII. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Manpreet Sondhi who hails from the Department of Mental Health and Behavioral Sciences, Max Health Care.

The Department, headed by the eminent psychiatrist Dr. Samir Parikh runs special programmes like this workshop for students.

Ms. Sondhi commenced the session by drawing the students’ attention towards the difference between Aggressiveness and Assertiveness. The former has a negative implication while the latter has positive undertones.

Assertiveness, if displayed properly, yields positive results. Aggressiveness on the other hand, can never give anything good.

The workshop also included a discourse on Verbal and Non-Verbal aggression. Ms. Sondhi explained the reasons for aggressive behavior and then discusses the consequences of the same with the students.
Aggression, Anger both create stress and therefore need to be handled effectively. The students were introduced to several techniques that will help them manage anger, channelize the emotion in a positive manner and not internalize it.

The students’ response was wonderful and the workshop was a highly interactive one.

The barrage of questions directed at Ms. Sondhi at the end of the session proved that anger was indeed a debilitating emotion. They were eager to know more about how to handle situations that create aggression and how they could use it in a positive way.

 


Yoga Workshop (By Dr. Surakshit Goswami)

13th & 14th May 2010

The Wellness Club of Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar organized a Workshop for its staff members. The Workshop was conducted by renowned Yogacharya Dr. Surakshit Goswami.

Yoga, explained Dr. Goswami ,is a complete science which reveals to mankind the path for attaining physical and mental well-being. It allows us to know our self and influences our ‘achar’, ‘vichar’ and ‘ahaar’. Regular practice of yoga rejuvenates dead tissues, reinstates fresh energy in the body, cures chronic diseases and helps us lead happy and fulfilling lives.

Dr. Goswami dealt with specific ailments like lumbago, tennis elbow, joint pain, spondulysis and stress. Several asans were taught to help deal with these maladies. Dr. Goswami stressed on regular practice of pranayam and meditation for freedom from stress. Meditation is associated with every moment of our lives. Whenever we meditate we look within ourselves for the divine of which we all are a part. Pranayam involves controlling our breathing- regulating the ‘prana vayu’ that we inhale and purify ourselves inside out. Yoga charya ji inspired all the participants to practice a few asans and do pranayam everyday. The interesting tips given by him at the end of every session will prove to be beneficial for all.

The workshop was indeed very fruitful. The early morning hours added to the divine experience

 


INVESTITURE CEREMONY (Primary Wing)

The Investiture Ceremony of the Primary Section was held on 27 April 2010 in the lush green lawns of Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar. The selected Prefectorial Board of students comprised of the Head Boy, Aviral Srivastava, the Head Girl, Dhriti Arora, Sports Captains, Activity Coordinators, the four House Captains with their prefects and a Discipline Committee. All the selected members of the student council, took an oath to carry out the duties assigned to them, with sincerity and dedication. The Head Boy & The Head Girl promised to lead their team with enthusiasm and responsibility. The Principal of the School spoke encouraging words and expressed desire to see all the leaders initiate their duties with regularity and commitment.

Earth Day

Reduce ! Reuse ! Recycle !

Students of Hillwoods Academy are well aware about Global Warming and Earth Day. The little ones of class I expressed their concern about the cleaner and greener Earth by dressing up as trees, water, rivers.
They participated in the fancy dress competition with full zeal and zest. The students of class II pledged to contribute towards a healthy, clean Earth and suggested measures to fight the greatest challenge of climate change by singing melodiously’ the Earth song. The students of class II also joined the awareness campaign by writing slogans on Earth Day, encouraging everyone to create a global green economy.
The little Environment savers of Class III put forth their ideas by painting beautiful posters and presenting their extraordinary views on to how to save the Mother Earth.

A drawing competition was held in collaboration with ‘Art of Living’ committee in which students of classes IV and V were made to sketch their imagination as to how they would want Delhi to be as they grew up

Heritage Week

India’s rich and glorious heritage is a left by our forefathers which is to be conserved and preserved for future generations.

Heritage week was observed from 12th – 18th April, 2010 to sensitize and create awareness amongst the students. Talk during assembly and in classes were conducted to generate awareness for the rich cultural heritage and the grandeur and magnificence of our monuments.

An inter house Heritage Quiz was conducted for the students of middle and senior sections where and houses bagged the first position.

Orientation Programme (IX & X)

The beauty of a block of marble can be realized when it is transformed into a Sculpture, in the same way education plays an important role in reflecting the inner beauty and talent of a human being. For the implementation of this great thought an Orientation Programme was organized for class IX and X students and their parents.

Students were reminded with the things that never change – The rules and regulations of the school. Valuable tips on the art of good parenting wee also given by the school counselor.

Gathering was briefed about the new assessment system introduced by CBSE i.e. Continuous and Comprehensive  Evaluation System which includes essential dimensions of school based assessment suggesting a 9 point grading system which will be in effect from this year.

Parents were motivated and inspired to guide their wards and students were also advised to put the best of their efforts in academics and co-curricular activities to enjoy the learning process.


Orientation and Graduation Ceremony

An orientation progamme for  the parents whose wards have been enrolled for the new session 2010-11 was held on 21 March 2010. An orientation is to familiarize the parents with the school and help them to reduce their anxiety and make them feel comfortable as it is their child’s first step on the threshold of education. Parents were briefed about the rules and regulations of school teaching methodology, curriculum and the activities to be carried throughout the year. Few parenting tips were also given by the school counselor. In the end, the principal addressed the parents and expected them to be a helping hand in shaping their child’s overall development.

Graduation ceremony was held for the students who graduated from the Kindergarten to class I of the primary section. Children and their parents felt proud when their wards were made to wear graduation caps and handed over a scroll. They looked beautiful in this headgear. Parents were also briefed about the teaching methodology of different subjects. Overall it was a very well organized function and well applauded by the parents.
