HILLWOODS ACADEMY OBSERVES DELHI POLICE WEEK |
|
Delhi Police organized an Awareness programme in Hillwoods Academy on 20 February, 2013 to make students aware of the working of the Police Force and how citizens can work in unison with the force for the safety of all.
With its motto as ‘Citizens First’ and message ‘With You, For you always’ ,the Delhi Police force since its inception in 1948 has been working for enforcement of law and order in the city.
Senior Police officials addressed the students apprising them about the different levels and functioning of Delhi Police force. Working round the clock, the police officials and constables through new techniques keep track of law breakers and those who flout the traffic rules.
Students had certain queries which are well attended by the officials , A student asked that as per Section 144 citizens cannot protest at India Gate and by Section 63 A, online protests are not allowed , then how living in a democracy can we exercise our Right to Expression. The answer to the query was that the protestors wanted to go to President’s and P.M’s house but that cannot be allowed. People can go to Ramlila Maidan to protest.
Problems like less numbers of PCR vans low percentage of women in Police Force and delay in investigation procedure were some of the problems discussed by the students.
In the end , Students realized that as citizens they need to be more vigilant and quick in their response and take police officials in confidence if they see any mishappening .Many students felt motivated to join police force and serve their state and nation.

VISIT TO HON'BLE CHIEF MINISTER'S HOUSE |
|
The students of Hillwoods Academy visited Hon’ble Chief Minister of NCT Delhi’s House for a nature trail. Excited and thrilled, students with rapt attention listened to the environmentalist, Ms. Arti who apprised them of good cultivation methods practised like usage of organic manure, vermin composting etc. She also discussed in detail regarding importance of biodiversity and forest resources and suggested ways to conserve them.
Students learnt about ‘bats’ and various plant and tree species which are part of CM’s house.
Dr. Sabat, Senior Scientific Officer informed them that many trees are as old as 100 years.
Hon’ble Chief Minister, Smt. Sheila Dikshit provided students an opportunity to interact with her. They presented handmade cards with paper quilling to ma’am which were highly appreciated by her.
Study centre was also visited by the young learners who were informed in detail about native plants and animals found in Delhi region. Ms. Arti urged students to save the planet Earth and contribute in their small yet meaningful way for presentation of environment.
A great learning experience, students came back well equipped with knowledge about biodiversity of their state and also motivated and devoted to the cause of Mother Earth.

Astronomy club students of the school attended the session on safe solar viewing methods conducted by the SPACE .The session started with an interaction on facts about our solar system . Students were shown slides on the facts about the sun, the structure of the sun, they were explained about the chromospheres,photosphere,prominences. Students were told about the safe solar viewing methods like solar viewing goggles,using filters on telescope,projection method and pin hole camera. Students made their own pin hole camera to observe the sun. Students observed the sunspots with the help of telescope. Students enjoyed watching sun and the sunspots through various means.

Community Service Club of the school organized a Blood donation Camp on 19 January, 2013 in association with Red Cross Society of India in the school premises. The students' volunteers urged the parents to donate blood and save precious lives. Enthusiasm and dedication of the club members motivated many parents to volunteers for a noble cause. Showing their gratification, the volunteers also presented 'Thank You' cards to the donors for their generosity.

WINTER CARNIVAL 'BEAT THE CHILL' 2012 |
|
Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar organised its Winter Carnival ‘Beat the Chill’ on Saturday, the 22 December 2012 for classes Nursery to V and Sunday, the 23 December 2012 for classes VI to XII in the school ground.
It was a fun filled fiesta marked with lots of gaiety, fervour and exuberance to celebrate ‘Christmas’ & usher in the New Year 2013 with a festive spirit.
The daylong event, had complete entertainment with loads of games, like Nut stacker, Lucky Strike, Knock it and you are out etc. Christmas Bonanza with Christmas Carols and a sumptuous food court with mouth watering delicacies ranging from Continental to Chinese to North Indian had everyone enjoy to the fullest. The special game shows: Baby Show, Tambola, Mum Tum aur Hum, Stitch the Buttons and Musical Antakshri for grandparents added to fun and frolic. The ‘Just a Minute’ games was a hit with the parents and visitors.
Creativity of the students was displayed at its best in the stall. ‘Creative Wonders by Hillwoodians’. Christmas stall was an added attraction with lucky dip and delicious plum cakes.
Dancing to the tapping music, the students had a great time at the DJ floor. The joy rides brought joy and enjoyment to the young crowd. The main attraction was the “Raffle Draw’ on both the days with super duper gifts to carry home. The day ended on a note of happiness and excitement and with a belief that the coming year 2013 will indeed be a prosperous, great and a wonderful year for all.

VISIT TO BIOTECH LAB OF AMITY UNIVERSITY |
|
Students of class XII (Biology) had visited biotech lab of Amity University to get an insight on techniques of biotechnology.
Students observed plant tissue culture lab, learnt about recombinant DNA technology & techniques used in it. Had a glance over centrifuge and PCR.
They got an opportunity to load the DNA sample in the wells of electro-phonetic gel. This visit was an enriching experience for the students.

VISIT TO PUSHPA GUJRAL SCIENCE CITY,KAPURTHALA,PUNJAB |
|
An excellent opportunity was given to the senior students to visit the Science City at Kapurthala, Punjab and gain valuable information about scientific developments and inventions. The main attractions of the centre are Science Voyage Hall, Space Gallery, Science of Sports Gallery and amazing Living machines. Enjoying themselves at the Sports Gallery by doing Rock Climbing and also watching Laser Shows.
Exploration and noting down details and concepts behind each invention was mind stimulating and thought provoking for the students. The visit enhanced their scientific temper and reasoning ability and brought clarity into their learning about astronomical and scientific facts.
A novel experience for the students which was meaningful and highly knowledgeable for the young learners was strongly recommended by teachers and pupils who visited the Science City.

TECHNOFEST AT HILLWOODS ACADEMY |

Hillwoods Academy, Delhi organized ‘Technofest’ on Saturday, 1 December 2012 in the school premises. The fest was graced by eminent personalities.
A number of inter-school competitions were organized to test the technological and scientific acumen of young learners such as Sparkling Technies, Luck and logic, Geometrical attire, Picax, Calcimania, V cut express, Talk via chalk, Brain teaser etc. in which students of more than 20 schools participated with zest and fervour.
The year 2012 has been declared as the NATIONAL YEAR OF MATHEMATICS to mark the 125th birth anniversary of Srinivas Ramanujan. To commemorate the same, the students presented PowerPoint presentations showcasing the relevance of Maths in Science and Computers.
The highlight of the fest was Science and Maths exhibition which showcased experimental, and analytical and reasoning aptitude of the students. The judges and teachers also visited the science park and recycling unit. The world of information and technology explored the untapped talent and versatility of the students, beyond the values of imagination. Various Science and Maths concepts were explained with dexterity and skill by the students through the medium of PowerPoint presentations and models.
The distinguished judges appreciated the laudable efforts of the students encouraging them to develop scientific temper and gain technological knowledge which in turn will enhance universality of all.
The event was a great success highly acknowledged by the judges, participants, teachers as well as the students. The event culminated with the Prize Distribution Ceremony and vote of thanks.

ASTRO CLUB ACTIVITY - HYDRO ROCKET |
|
Young students of Hillwoods Academy got a chance to fly their own rockets, this time not from any launchpad of ISRO but from their own premises and that too with a fuel of water!! Under guidance of SPACE organisation, these students learnt the basics of Rocketry and made their own personal water rockets and flew these few hundred of feet away!!! Hard facts about rocket science were learnt in an easy way by the students. They enjoyed the workshop as they got a hands on experience in doing science in out of classroom situation.

Children’s Day was celebrated in the school by junior students by participating with enthusiasm in almost 30 activities organized by their teachers. Be it calligraphy, poster making, story writing or junk jewellery or any other fun filled activity, the zeal and zest of students was highly appreciable. Enjoying and learning a skill or a craft made them feel special as they were also given a good treat after their activity.
The senior students of class XI and XII had organized ‘Hillwoods Fest’ for classes VI-XII students. A treat for all the children, the fest had a number of competitive events like With beats, Make a move, Click it, style act and Gaming.
Immensely enjoyed by students were ‘JUST A MINUTE’ games in which concentration, agility and precision were rewarded.
The alumni of school were invited for judging the competitive events who also were asked to share their experiences of the outside world by the comperers.
Above all, the delicious eateries al food stalls and DJ has children enjoying to their fullest.
The fest was very well planned and organized by senior students who also saw to it that a proper decorum is maintained by all students.

An Anti Cracker Rally was organized on November 9, 2012 by Hillwoods Academy to sensitize students on how to respect their natural environs.
In Bhagidari with Dept. of Environment, Delhi Govt. the school students gave a message urging everyone to celebrate a pollution free Diwali and a firm ‘No’ to crackers with colourful placards and banners. Universal Public School students joined the rally at old CBSE building, Preet Vihar. All the students in unison motivated and urged the commuters and residents to celebrate a safe, prosperous and most importantly pollution free Diwali.
A skit was also conducted to generate awareness amongst masses not to condemn little children to work in hazardous factories as child labourers, rather give them a happy, safe childhood.

CONFLUENCE FEST AT HILLWOODS ACADEMY |

As Picasso aptly said, “All children are creative- retain the creativity by getting an arena to showcase their artistic endeavors.
Hillwoods Academy, Preet Vihar organized Confluence on November 3, 2012 for the fifth consecutive year. Various schools of Delhi participated with zeal and fervor in this inter-school event where the latent talent of the young students was portrayed with ingenuity and originality. Power Point presentation on Social and Literary Connections: First World War and Literature showed how English poets motivated the soldiers during the 1st World War.
Events like Ad Enactment, Spell Bee, Heritage Quiz, Debate on FDI and Business News Designing made the fest an innovative and colourful one. Impressed by the artistic and expressive abilities of students, the eminent judges motivated them to explore vistas and avenues that will nurture their versatility and enhance their potentialities. Exhibits put forth by the children of the host depicted the skilled expertise of the young Hillwoodians and evoked appreciation and admiration from Judges as well as teachers. Special attractions of the day were the “Oxford Street” by English department where the students relived the Shakespearean saga acting plays by the great dramatist. The models of Egyptian civilization showcasing “The Mummy” and Indus Valley civilization showed the skilled expertise of the children. It made learning of history interesting. Special attraction of the astronomy club was the miniature model of “Jantar Mantra”, deftly carved out by the students.
The fest culminated with the prize distribution ceremony applauding the efforts of the students. The children had created an ambience of colour, creativity, dexterity and skill. The Education Head conveyed the vote of thanks appreciating the sincere efforts put in by all the participating schools.

PVR Nest organized a Road Safety workshop on October 12, 2012 for classes V to XI. The workshop was conducted in 2 slots. The workshop was an entertaining one for the students. Instead of usual workshops based on interaction and lecture, this workshop was based on activity and dramatics. The Road Safety team from PVR Nest presented rules to be followed on road through music, dance and acrobatics. The students applauded their performance and learnt the rules in a new and better way. The students were then allowed to present a short skit on road safety rules.
The students enjoyed the whole session and learnt the rules in new and improved way.

INTERACTION WITH STUDENTS AT AMAR JYOTI |
|
The students of class II-V went to Amar Jyoti on 6 October 2012. On watching the students of Amar Jyoti playing basket ball on wheel chair, the Hillwoodians were filled with enthusiasm and admiration for those special children. All the students were briefed out about brail and sign language and went forward to tell their names in the same manner and interacted well with the children.
They shared toffees with them. They even presented a ‘Best Wishes’ card to the Principal of the school. Then they visited the Jewellery unit of the school where the students of Amar Jyoti had made beautiful jewellery. Visit to science exhibition where the budding scientists of Amar Jyoti had displayed really impressive and knowledgeable models on topics like water cycle, conservation of energy, dam and hydroelectric power was highly commendable and worth appreciating.
The visit indeed made such small children also think about the physically challenged and learn a lesson that ‘if there is a will there is a way to overcome obstacles and hurdles in life.’

Visit to Okhla Bird Santuary by class VI to VIII students generated awareness among them about conservation of bird species and keenness to develop more natural habitats for birds. Renowned environmentalists Mr. Rakesh Khatri & Ms. Sahana apprised the visitors about diversity of flora and fauna in Delhi and suggested ways to preserve it. Quiz and drawing competitions and games were also organized for students to make them learn with fun.

APPRECIATE INDIA'S RICH CULTURAL HERITAGE |
|
The students of class V visited National Museum. The children were fascinated to see the Indian craft, early tools and weapons of Harappan and Vedic civilizations.
They were amazed to see the excavated graves of Harappan Civilization and the sculptures of the Medieval India. Besides the tribal dresses and the musical instruments, the inscription of Ashoka the Great was the centre of attraction. It was an educational visit which was enjoyed by all and it also updated their knowledge about history and historical facts.

A visit to St. Mary’s Home for aged at Kashmiri Gate was organized for class IV and V students. The purpose of the visit was to develop empathy and respect for the elderly among the learners. With the desire to bring happiness and smile on their faces, students took gifts, handmade cards and eateries. Playing with them, singing songs with the grannies was the most enjoyable moment.
Feeling blessed with blessings from the grannies, students joy had no bounds and they promised themselves that they would always take care of their elders and respect them.

KALAKRITI AT HILLWOODS ACADEMY |
|
Ingenity, creativity and innovation was seen at its best in KALAKRITI-art, dance and music festival organized at Hillwoods Academy. More than twenty schools participated with zeal and enthusiasm to showcase talent, versatility and adroitness in fine arts.
In the realm of arts, thematic designs for hand painting, beautiful sketches on canvas and art of paper folding depicted the artistic endeavour of students. Display of imaginativeness and skillfulness in rangoli making, paper quilling and mask making was immensely admired by eminent judges.
Celebrating the vividness and vibrancy of Indian culture, classical music and dance forms shown by young artists enthralled the audience as well as the judges. Versatility at its best could be seen in the performance of the instrumentalists with their melodic and harmonious tunes. Art exhibition was also organized to portray the genius and flair of art in Hillwoodians. The headmistress of the school presented a vote of thanks to all the participating schools applauding the efforts of all the students for whole hearted participation. Appreciation and accolodes by the head of the institution to all the winners of the competitive events made students proud of their excellence and fineness.

AN ODE TO MOTHERLAND BY HILLWOODIANS |
|
To commemorate 65 glorious years of Independence and to pay rich tributes to our freedom fighters, Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervor and full enthusiasm at Hillwoods Academy. The head of the institution hoisted the National Flag accompanied by national anthem played by school band. A cultural programme reminiscing India’s splendid past, sacrifices made by freedom fighters and applauding India’s achievements in past 65 years was a befitting ode to our motherland.
Dance drama depicting the 1857 mutiny-the first war of Independence fought by brave fighters like Rani Jhansi, Tantya Tope, and Nana Sahib captivated the audience. Presentation on ‘Gandhian Era’ showed India’s freedom struggle by Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the masses.
Portrayal of Boycott of Simon commission in 1928 was shown by students through a short skit. Milestones achieved in field of Science and Technology was highlighted in a presentation on ‘Advancements in field of Science and Technology.
Melodious medley by teachers was a homage to freedom fighters and brave soldiers who guard our frontiers. Principal Madam urged the students who represent the future of the country to be righteous and true citizens of a vibrant nation.

Hillwoods Academy I its endeavor to disseminate the message of environmental conservation, organized an Eco Seminar on August 4, 2012 in the school premises. Talk by eminent personalities and environmental specialist was the highlight of the day. Dr. B. C. Sabat, Senior Scientific Officer, Dept of Environment graced the occasion.
Mr. Sajeev T.K., from Bombay Natural History Society gave a talk on Biodiversity species of flora and fauna found in India.
Mr. Rakesh Khatri, a renowned environmentalist, Executive Director Nature Foundation conducted a workshop on making natural habitats for the sparrow with clay coconut and bamboo. Ms. Suhana, Senior Coordinator of Eco Root Foundation divided students into groups of 25 for the nest making activity and hand painting.
On the occasion, ‘Green Page’ Eco Newsletter was released giving detailed information about schools’ initiative to spread the message of ‘Go Green’.
A plethora of competitions – poster making, slogan writing, essay writing and power point presentation on global warming was organized to motivate students to come up with new ideas of preparation of environment.
Eco exhibition of eco friendly products and recycled paper was appreciated by all. Visit to Science Park and herbal garden followed by a quiz had students exercising their mood. Participation from more than 20 schools was involved in various eco activities. Education head presented vote of thanks expressing her gratitude to the distinguished guests, teachers and students from invited schools and also host school students for their active participation.

VISIT TO AMAR JYOTI CHARITABLE TRUST : A lesson to be learnt |
|
A group of 30 students of class X visited the Amar Jyoti Special School.
Seeing the physically challenged students taking vocational training learning the 3 ‘R’ in classrooms or playing in the ground, a lesson for their lives was learned by the young visitors. Determination, strong will power and hard work can do wonders for anyone. These special children have overcome their disabilities with their indomitable spirit which is highly appreciable.
Interacting with them, telling stories, rhymes and playing was a joyful experience for the students.

VISIT TO ST. MARY'S HOME FOR THE OLD |
|
Students of class XI visited St. Mary’s Home at Rajpur Road, Delhi on 12 July 2012. Meeting and conversing with old grannies was a new experience for them. Listening to their varied experiences in their journeys of life and feelings of loneliness and abandonment, the students were spellbound.
Pupils touched by their heart rending stories, decided to show apathy, compassion and respect to their elders at home also. To bring smile to their faces, the students sang songs for them, played antakshari with them and also gave them small gifts as token of love and affection.

Astronomy Club of Hillwoods Academy organised an observation of Venus Transit in its premises on june 6, 2012. Enthusiastic students, school staff , teachers observed this scientific phenomenon .Students observed this event through various methods like ball projection, telescope. Besides astrophotography was also done to witness the event by the club coordinator Mrs Babita Kundalia.
Students were informed about the transit of Venus across the Sun which takes place when the planet Venus passes directly between the Sun and Earth, becoming visible against the solar disk, and can be seen from Earth as a small black disk moving across the face of the Sun. It was an exclusive experience for the students and they were thrilled to watch the transit .They were happy to know that they were fortunate enough to witness the Transit of Venus as it is among the rarest of predictable astronomical phenomena. They occur in a pattern that repeats every 243 years, with pairs of transits eight years apart separated by long gaps of 121.5 years and 105.5 years.

WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION |
|
On the occasion of 40th World Environment Day, 5 June 2012, the students of Hillwoods Academy were invited to be a part of ceremonial plantation at East bank of Yamuna river by the Department Of Environment and Forests, Delhi Government.
The occasion was graced by Shri. K.S.Mehra, Principal Secretary, Environment and Forests. The ceremony began with the planting of saplings to promote the concept of ‘Go Green’. Pledging to protect ‘Mother Earth’, children from various schools also planted saplings for a Greener and Cleaner Environment. The Chief Guest, while addressing the young students, urged them to make Delhi and eco friendly place to live in. Since its inception in 1972, each year has seen the World Environment Day being celebrated with a theme pursuing the goal for sustainable development.
For the year 2012, the theme is ‘Green Economy’. Does it include you? Which inspires everyone to be part of the Environment Awareness Programme?
Students were also taken for a nature trail by Mr. Rakesh Khatri, a well-known environmentalist. Amidst nature, the students were told about medicinal plants, the variety of flora in Delhi and the bird species.

AMIDST NATURE - A TRIP TO SHIMLA |
|
A trip to Shimla, Himachal Pradesh was organised for Class XII students from 22 May to 25 May, 2012.
Joy ride in Toy Train, Visit to Chail Palace, Chail Cricket Ground and Golf Ground, Naldhera, Mini Zoo made their visit to Shimla worth remembering and an enjoyable one. On their way back, they also visited Splendid Pinjore Gardens at Chandigarh.
The trip was a rejuvenating and a refreshing one for the senior students.

A MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE - A TRIP TO JIM CORBETT PARK |
|
A trip to Jim Corbett was organized from 15 May to 17 May 2012 for the students of Class V to X by the school. The most enjoyable experience was the Jungle Safari in which students saw many birds, monkeys, peacocks, elephants, deer etc. Paw marks of tiger and wild bear were also witnessed by the students.
A visit to Jim Corbett House, Corbett Museum and documentary on tigers made the trip a memorable one for all students.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY (PRIMARY) |
|
The students of classes I and II were entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining discipline, punctuality and good conduct in the junior section of Hillwoods Academy.
The little ones were honoured for the posts of Discipline Incharge, House Captains, Prefects and House Prefects by the head of the institution, Education Head and Head Mistress and CCA incharge of the school.
In a solemn ceremony, they took an oath to uphold the school’s motto of excellence, taking a pledge to deliver their duties to the best of their abilities, they assured everyone that the responsibilities given to them would be performed honestly and sincerely.
The Principal congratulated them and gave her blessings to the newly appointed council members.

VISIT TO ASOLA-BHATTI WILDLIFE SANCTUARY |
|
On 28th April 2012, we visited Asola-Bhatti wildlife sanctuary. Our group had 46 students and three teachers. We reached there by 9:30 am. Mr. Sajeev along with two education officers welcomed us. We were divided into two groups. Each group had 23 students. One group was headed by Mr. Ahmed and the second one by Mr. Rajender. They took us to different areas of sanctuary. We saw a small pond which had Hydrilla, Papyrus, dragonflies and mosquitoes. Mr. Ahmed explained the importance of mosquitoes for our environment. He told about the harmful effects of chemical controllers like “Allout” which is used to kill mosquitoes. There were colonies of termites in which thousands of termites are living. Students realized the ecological importance of termites. We saw Ronjh plant, Bamboo, two types of Squirrels and their nest in which they keep their babies, Babbler which is a seven sister’s bird and Black Buck, an Antelope. It is the fastest mammal and can jump up
to 30 feet. Mr. Sajeev interacted with students. He discussed the importance of different types of plants and animals for nature. Students participated actively in the discussion and answered all the questions asked by him. It was an eye-opening and educative experience for all of us.

VISIT TO NATIONAL SCIENCE CENTRE |
|
Science club of the school encourages students to develop a scientific temper curious to know how earth revolves around the sun, how a barometer works or electricity is generated; the students of class I-III visited the National Science Center to get answers to their queries.
A highly informative and educative visit, the students learnt about human body and its functioning. They enjoyed weighing themselves to calculate their body mass and bone weight.
Latest advanced in information technology helped students know about the development made in science.

INTERNET TELESCOPE PROJECT |
|
Internet plays a very important role in our day to day life these days. Astronomy is no exception as students now can use remote telescopes thousands of kilometres away can be controlled by students here in India using computers and internet. They can get the real time data from those telescopes in the form of images and do research on these which were out of their reach few years back.
A workshop was conducted by SPACE at ITL Public school ,Dwarka on 15.04.2012.Two students of Astronomy club and the club coordinator participated in the workshop. The workshop was conducted by Mr. C.B Devgun and Dr. Mila Mitra. They gave the idea of internet telescope and showed students as how to control the telescope online.
It is the first time that such a project is brought to India on a large scale involving 80 schools and organizations, and selected students will get an opportunity to be trained and participate in this exciting real science project.
Internet Telescope enables students to be in charge of telescopes placed in an astronomy observatory in the United States. Students sitting at their desks in India will remotely control telescopes to see and explore the night sky visible in the United States, and take in depth pictures of celestial objects such as asteroids, galaxies, nebulae, clusters etc. This is real time science and cutting edge technology at its forefront!
During the training programme students were explained about the interface and how to select a log of objects to observe and click the images. The workshop was very educative and informative.

VISIT TO NATIONAL DISASTER RESPONSE FORCE (NDRF) |
|
A visit to 8th Battalion of NDRF was organized for students of Hillwoods Academy. A group of 40 students were shown a live demonstration of how the force conducts a rescue operation using machines like CBRN Hazmat Response Vehicle and CBRN Surveillance vehicle for searching chemical equipments. Life detector, victim locating system, chain saw, portable gas drill, GSMA system and many more devices are used to carry out rescue operations after an earth quake or tsunami.
Commandant of the battalion told students that in total there are 10 NDRF battalions, each has 45 personnel with specialized training who are well-prepared to face any disaster, natural or man-made.
The visit proved to be highly informative and instrumental in bringing forth the growth of the country to be part of community disaster management.

INVESTITURE CEREMONY (JUNIORS) |
|
The student council of the school was bestowed with responsibility and honour in a solemn ceremony held on Thursday, 19 April 2012. Chirag Sethi and Pragati Gupta of the primary section were selected for the post of Head Boy and Head girl of the school respectively.
The responsibility of monitoring discipline and decorum was given to Kavya Jain and Himanshu Diwan, while the domain of co-curriculum was to be taken care by Kunal Nayar and Mimansa.
The oath taking ceremony was conducted by the Head Boy and the Head Girl where the newly appointed council pledged to uphold the ideals of their alma mater. The council vowed to work in unison with utmost sincerity and devotion to fulfill all the assigned duties for the session 2012-13.
The Headmistress urged the prefectorial board to be agile, alert and committed to their cause.
The Head of the institution blessed the newly appointed students and encouraged them to work with diligence and earnestness, thereby setting precedent for others.

The student council of the school was bestowed with honour and responsibility to uphold the ideals of their alma mater, Hillwoods Academy in a solemn ceremony held in school on Tuesday, 17 April 2012.Ayeesha Sareen and Aradhya Neeraj were selected for the coveted posts of Head Girl and Head Boy of the school respectively.
Jatin Sharma was given the honour of School Prefect. Sonali Verma and Dhawal Jain were given the responsibility of maintaining discipline in the school. Graphics Head, Sagar Gupta & Mayank Sharma and Quiz coordinators, Meetil Raza & Srishti Jain have been assigned the important task of monitoring students to excel in field of computers and General Awareness. Deergha Manocha and Prashali Chauhan were given the responsibility of co-curricular activities. Ojasvi Khandelia and Aditi Gupta have been designated as Sports Captain for the year 2012-13.
Oath ceremony was conducted by Head Boy and Head Girl to solemnize the special occasion. The newly appointed Head Boy and Head Girl assured the head of the institution and the faculty members that they would perform their duties with utmost sincerity and dedication without showing any arrogance. Education head and the Counsellor of the school urged students’ council members to be responsible, alert and to work in unison.
The head of the institution blessed the newly appointed students’ council and motivated them to work diligently setting a precedent for others.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME FOR NURSERY |
|
Education is an all round drawing out of the best in the child – body, mind and soul.An orientation programme was conducted for parents of new entrants in the school, the nursery class students at Hillwoods Academy.
The head mistress of the school apprised the parents about the rules and regulations of the school and urged them to go through the instructions given in the school dairy.
The school counsellor guided the parents about how to regulate the eating and sleeping habits of their wards so that they are punctual and regular to school.
Education head emphasized on English conversation and asked parents to monitor their ward’s performance on day to day basis and spend quality time with them.
The head of the institution extended a warm welcome to all the parents to Hillwoods family. She stressed upon the cooperation of parents with the school for the holistic growth of their children.

I dreamed I stood in a studio
and watched two sculptors there.
One was a teacher and the other a parent,
both toiled in unison for the child
with gentle loving care.
Graduation ceremony was held for the students who graduated from kindergarten to Class I on 23 March 2012. The children and the parents felt proud when their wards were made to wear the graduation caps and were handed over a scroll. Parents were briefed about the teaching methodology of the different subjects.
Speaking on this occasion, the Principal blessed the little ones for embarking on their new journey to the primary section. The members of PTA Executive Council gave gifts to the tiny tots and encouraged them for the new class.
The Graduation Ceremony ended on a promising note with the hope for a fruitful session.
